The first PDF smartphone guide Nature Tourism Services produced was developed for the Australian Alps National Parks in 2012.
Following several content and menu refinements, the guide remains a central part of the Australina Alps communication platform today.
A feature of the 29MB guide is its focus on mapping and the ability of PDF documents to display vector content.
This means that coupled with the 16X scroll power of most PDF viewer apps, it is easy for users to zoom in on the detail of maps after the manner everyone now expects from online mapping software.
This however is here embedded onto the phone with only a fraction of the data downloads / device storage needed to host other mapping platforms in an offline capacity.
